Anne Crossman
Your Homeschool Guide and Friend
Anne’s perspective of home education is unmatched. As one of the original generation of homeschooled kids in the 1980’s, Anne went on to Stanford and Duke Universities, taught in public high schools and military barracks, authored four best-selling books on education, and has been homeschooling her four children since 2006. She has seen education from all sides of the table, and the value of that perspective is evident in her work.
For decades within the homeschool community, Anne has heard parents lament the steep learning curve of the first 5-8 years of homeschooling—how it is frustrating, exhausting, and sometimes ineffective. In order for a family to learn to homeschool well they would need to attend conferences and seminars, read half a dozen books, research blogs and articles, and track down some real-life (hopefully successful) homeschoolers for advice. Next they would cobble all that into an experimental system, spending years fine-tuning it through trial and error. For many, this was not an affordable solution. More importantly, it wasn’t much of a solution at all.
For the past ten years, Anne has been privately consulting parents using her research and time-proven experience. After landing on a set of teaching principles that successfully worked for a decade of families—from any budget or background, using any curriculum—Anne looked for a way to develop this solution into a resource that would make a great education accessible to everyone.
Her goal was to build a resource that would help every parent homeschool successfully—spending minimal time and money— starting with year one. Her book and video series Homeschool Like an Expert is the definitive guide to homeschooling. As one veteran homeschool mom of 40 years put it, “I have been in the homeschool world since the 80s and have never seen a resource like this—get it.”
Homeschool Like an Expert distills decades of work collecting the wisdom and experiences of psychologists, behavioral specialists, occupational therapists, and professional educators—not to mention over 100 successful homeschool parents (whose children have made it into a thriving adulthood!)—all in one easy place. Homeschool Expert is the nexus of the homeschooling world. Connecting parents to the greatest resources and practical tools that help them teach well, the wisdom of many is finally accessible to all. Parents everywhere agree. (In its first week of release, Homeschool Like an Expert was ranked by Amazon “#1 New Release” in education categories.
Anne’s perspective of education is thoughtful, well-informed, rare, and highly valued. In addition to her latest book, Homeschool Like an Expert, Anne is the author of best-selling books on education such as Getting the Best Out of College and Study Smart, Study Less publishing work in The Washington Post, featured in USA Weekend and the Chicago Tribune, among others.
